Meet Shekhs Aravind

I am glad to announce that Shekhs has decided to join the team. Shekhs is an energy guy and will be running for the post of General Secretary. I am sure that his enthusiasm and fun loving spirit will be a perfect fit for this crucial role.

More about Shekhs
I am from Cochin, Kerala, India and I have been part of Midwest Cricket Conference since 2003. I play for Challengers CC. I lived in Springfield, Illinois and played with Capitol and Springfield, before I moved to the Chicago area.
I work for CGI, a French-Canadian Company based out of Montreal, Canada. I function as a Technical Architect, and have been managing development efforts for the last 5 years.
I live in Buffalo Grove, IL, with my Wife and 2 boys.
Cricket was never a passion growing up in Kerala, as I was religiously playing soccer and basketball. Living in the Midwest, playing organized cricket transformed my view about cricket and the passion involved in the game. Since I started playing in 2003, there was no looking behind, as this game was only third to my family and job. It’s the passion of playing the game, and trying to develop the sport in this country that inspires me to be part of the management team. I would love to see both my kids grow up playing this game, and have the infrastructure in place for them to learn the sport.

Hi Jaggi n Team,

What would be the roles and duties of the different positions if you get elected ? Treasurer is simple - he will handle the accounts dept .. President n Vice President also seems somewhat clear. But would be better, if we can have roles and responsibilities listed properly .. I just checked the MCC website and the duties listed for current team looks very upper-level ..

I hope I have been able to explain my point here ..

Alpesh,

That is the document we are working on right now. We are clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of each and every committee and also of the President, VP, General secretary etc.

We will publish that as soon as we have it ready.

I was just reading on Internet .. in most probability 2016 olympics will be awarded to Chicago .. If that happens from 2009, we will not have Washington Park with us .. which will be a huge setback for us ...

Any thoughts on how could we deal with this ? Alternate options to look for ?? Jaggi .. this point definitely deserves a mention in your agenda ..

Good point Alpesh.

Till date, the city has talked about relocating soccer, baseball to other grounds, but not cricket. I had attended a sports conference at school last year and met a high ranking official from the Olympics committee. She had recommended that we start building a relationship with the city to ensure that we are not ignored if we lose WP.
We also have to start looking for new grounds. I believe we will need to come up with good marketing materials before we start the conversation with park districts.
